Community Involvement
The annual Vernon Day and Food Truck Festival was held at its new location on Sammis Road in the field between the Glen Meadow Middle School and the Cedar Mountain Primary School. The event featured food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, music and other activities. The event was sponsored by Vernon Township and the Vernon PAL.
The Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta (JWCS) founded SPARTA DAY over 40 years ago in 1975. Over time it has grown into a much loved and anticipated community event, with over 125 vendors, live entertainment, a food plaza, a special Kid’s Country with activities and amusements, and much more.
The event remains free to the public thanks to our fantastic community sponsors. All proceeds from the event go to local and national charities and non-profit organizations.
A fun-filled day for the whole community! This day is usually in the summer.
The Historical School House will be open and Classic Cars will be on display for BYRAM DAY. Touch-A-Truck will be back along with free rides for kids. Check out vendors from all over and amazing Food.
There will be plenty of food vendors, many of which are local non-profit groups raising funds for their organizations. Several Byram-based associations will be on hand to exhibit how they enhance our community. One of them is sure to tickle your interest, so talk to the volunteers and consider joining to help continue the growth and improvement in our town.
The day includes games, demonstrations, Children’s Corner and much more. Shop the vendors, view the Classic Cars or just sit, relax, listen to the music and enjoy a tasty treat. Food will be served all day long, so come for lunch then stay and enjoy a leisurely dinner. This day is usually in the Fall.

Skylands Stadium
The award-winning Skylands Stadium is one of North Jersey’s premier sports and entertainment venues, and home to the Sussex County Miners professional baseball team. It is a year-round, full-service facility where families can spend quality time together. Fans can enjoy exciting baseball games as well as meet-and-greets with Miners players, coaches, and our ever-popular mascot, Herbie the Miner. The all-new Skylands Stadium is also a community center where local businesses, charities, high schools, and colleges gather for their own events. Our stadium is conveniently located within a one-hour driving radius of many New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania towns. As the sun shined on the 2019 season, the Champion Sussex County Miners began their first-ever title defense on Friday, May 17, at Skylands Stadium against the Rockland Boulders at 7:05pm. To commemorate this historic moment, the Sussex County Miners hosted an all-star lineup of festivities including baseball pageantry, community pride, live music, a special giveaway and the biggest fireworks in Sussex County. The gates opened at 5:00pm.
27th Annual Business Expo at Crystal Springs
The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Business EXPO, now in its 27th year, experienced a big change in 2019. Typically held each fall, EXPO was held in June, amidst flowers and green leaves instead of colorful, falling ones. Everything else about the EXPO remains the same, including the beautiful Crystal Springs Country Club location, an array of exhibitors large and small, lots of giveaways, and of course the delicious food. As always, this event was free and open to the general public.
