21579260_sWith the winter months just around the corner – it is important to make sure that your heating system is in top working condition.

During the summer months, most homeowners don’t pay much attention to their heating systems. Since there is no need to use it – there is no need to check and make sure that it is all working properly.

Until the fall season arrives and then there is a perfect reason to get your heating system working properly – the winter.

During the winter months, your heating system works around the clock so it is important to make sure now that your system can handle the extra wear and tear.

Here are a few signs that your thermostat is going out and needs repair:

  • The heating system kicks on at a temperature different from what the thermostat is set for. For instance, if your heating system is set for 75 degrees but, the heating system turns on when the screen reads 72 degrees … it is likely that you have a thermostat problem
  • The heating system runs nonstop and does not shut off. If your heating system just keeps running and does not turn off at any point in the day or night – you should have your thermostat checked and your heating system inspected.
  • Your heating system does not turn on at the temperature that you set it at. For instance, if the thermostat is set to turn on at 74 degrees but, it does not turn on at all, your home will be very cold and you should have your system inspected.

Use these troubleshooting tips to determine if your heating system needs repair or maintenance due to a thermostat malfunction. Having a properly working heating system is important to you and your family being comfortable during the winter weather.
